A portion of a bullrush root apical meristem showing small isodiametric unexpanded cells with large spherical nuclei and prominent nucleoli in interphase cells. The nucleoli are not observed during mitotic activity. Note the storied organization of the cells and the mitotic figures in two cells which is derived from the tiered relationship of cell initials.
